1. Who we are

Dutiable ("we", "us", "our") is a free customs-tools site operated by Dutiable.io. We help e-commerce sellers look up HS codes and duty rates and follow tariff changes.

2. Data we collect

  • Usage data — pages visited and features used, stored with a hashed IP address, for service improvement and abuse prevention.
  • Tool input — product descriptions and values you enter into the free tools.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the free HS code lookup, duty and landed-cost calculators and the public tariff-change tracker.
  • To show advertising that keeps the tools free (see Cookies below).
  • To improve the tools using anonymised aggregate data.

We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Data storage

Data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database whose primary copy is in Western Europe. Product names submitted to the HS code lookup may be retained in an anonymised result cache to avoid redundant AI calls.

5. Service providers

  • Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, database (D1), file storage (R2) and security. Cloudflare processes IP addresses and request data to deliver and protect the site.
  • Google Gemini API — product descriptions typed into the HS code lookup are sent to Google's AI API for classification.
  • Upstash — rate limiting of the free tools, keyed on a hashed IP address.
  • Google AdSense — serves ads on reference and content pages (see below).

6. Advertising and cookies

Reference pages, guides and the glossary show ads served by Google AdSense. The tools under /tools show no ads. We do not set advertising cookies ourselves.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Ads may also be served by Google's certified ad partners, who may use their own cookies and web beacons. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; ads will still appear but will not be personalised.

7. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before any cookies are used for personalised advertising. If you decline, Google may show non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies only for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy link in the consent message.

Our legal bases are consent for advertising cookies and legitimate interest for running, securing and improving the site. You have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Deleting your data

Email privacy@dutiable.io to request access to or deletion of any data we hold about you. We process requests within 30 days.
