Credit system explained

1 credit = 1 SKU

Regardless of product complexity, one classification costs one credit.

Cache = 0 credits

If an identical product was already classified, you get the result instantly for free.

Manual fix = 0 credits

Correcting a low-confidence code manually feeds data back — no credit charge.

Frequently asked questions

What is a credit?

1 credit = classification of 1 SKU. Re-classifying a manually approved code costs 0 credits. If an identical product was already classified (cache hit), it also costs 0 credits.

Does 5 credits a month get me anywhere?

It covers small catalogs and testing the workflow. If you ship 50+ unique SKUs, you'll run out on your first import — grab a 250-credit top-up for $29 or subscribe to Pro for 500/month. Cache hits on repeated SKUs are free, so recurring catalogs cost less over time.

Do credits expire?

Top-up credits are valid for 12 months. Subscription credits roll over up to 2× your monthly limit (Pro: max 1,000 credits, Business: max 4,000 credits).

Can I use top-up credits on a Free plan?

Yes. Top-up credits work on any plan, including Free. You don't need a subscription to buy and use credits.

How accurate is the classification?

The classifier returns a confidence score (0–100) per candidate HS code. Scores above 85% are typically stable matches against the WCO HS 2022 nomenclature; 60–84% should be reviewed; below 60% is flagged for manual correction. You can re-classify with added material, description, or category context at no extra credit cost.

What tariff databases do you use?

USITC HTS for the US, EU TARIC + EUR-Lex for the EU, and the UK Global Tariff for the UK. Rates are synced weekly and we track changes in the tariff_changes feed that powers monitoring alerts (64 changes detected in the last 90 days at the time of writing).

How does monitoring work?

Save a classification to your catalog or click 'Get duty-change alerts' on any lookup. When the duty rate for that HS code moves in EU TARIC, USITC HTS, or UK Trade Tariff, you receive an email with the old rate, the new rate, and a link to your dashboard. Free plan includes 3 monitored codes; Pro unlocks unlimited.

Is this a substitute for a customs broker?

No. Dutiable is a tool to speed up classification, monitoring and documentation. For binding tariff classifications and customs disputes, consult a licensed customs broker or trade compliance specialist.
